Visit the north-west with us to discover the hidden vineyards at the doorstep of Melbourne’s CBD. Here’s some of the vineyards we typically visit:

Arundel Farm Estate

20 acres of vineyard situated on both northern and southern slopes of the property, consisting of 16 acres of shiraz and 4 acres of viognier with a splash of Marsanne and Sauvignon blanc mixed in. Their unique soils are the backbone of the property consisting of ‘basaltic’ derived clay topsoil with underlying chalky limestone (perfectly suited for shiraz and viognier). The steep Southern slope is where the original 2-acre plantings of shiraz (1984) are terraced into the top of the hill overlooking the Maribyrnong river. This is the cooler side of the property and shows off cooler characters with white pepper, chalky tannins and a subtler depth of flavours. The Northern slope consists of the other 14 acres of shiraz and 4 acres of densely planted viognier. This is the warmer side of the property and likes to show off its black pepper, spice and supple tannins.

Russo Estate Winery

Russo Estate is family-owned and operated by the Russo Family, its stunning estate and vineyard were designed and established by the family in 1999. Set upon the beautiful fields of country grass, wetlands, and mountains, the winery was built to satisfy modern elegance with a rustic feel yet still ensuring guests receive a welcome home feeling. The vineyard itself makes for the most beautiful backdrop from any angle while dining at our a la carte restaurant or event, creating magical moments. Russo Estate is situated just forty minutes from the Melbourne CBD although when you are here it feels like you are at a home away from home with nature and wildlife surrounding the entire estate.

Marnong Estate

Planting and orientation of rows have been carefully considered at Marnong Estate to best utilise its cool climate, the 300m elevation and the rainfall exposure on the north-facing slopes to produce high-quality wines. Soil was first turned on the vineyard in 2016 with Shiraz, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir planted on the north-facing slopes of the estate. Vines now cover 16ha of the property with the exciting additions of Italian grape varieties Fiano and Montepulciano in 2017, and Sangiovese and Malbec in 2021. With a strong focus on sustainability and protecting the rich history of the homestead and its importance to the Sunbury Wine Region. Sample their wines at the cellar door or enjoy a meal in one of  the dining areas while soaking up sensational views across the Macedon Ranges.

Witchmount Estate Winery

Born from a dream of an Italian migrant in 1991, Witchmount Winery now produces award winning wines that are exported internationally. Part of the Sunbury wine region and only thirty minutes drive from Melbourne’s CBD, Witchmount is one of the closest wineries to Melbourne. Some of the finest wines over 12 hectares of under vine they grow Shiraz , Cabernet, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The Witchmount team have spent many hours in the vineyard and winery in order to produce the finest wines possible. They put their heart and souls into the one chance a year and have been rewarded with a multitude of trophies and awards from all over Australia and the world.

Andraos Brothers Winery

Olde Winilba was the first vineyard established in the Sunbury region in the early 1860’s. The gentle eastern slope and the rich volcanic soil produced wines which won awards both in Australia and overseas. Winilba winery was given a new lease on life when the Andraos family replanted the vineyard; and relying on old photographs, restored the old bluestone cellar to its origional beauty. In fact, the original bluestone walls, brick floors and old winemaking vats are a feature in the sales and wine tasting area.
